How did you get started?
My wife started doing sprint triathlons in '06, as well as getting her 1st degree black belt in Taekwondo. Her motivation was contageous... If she can do it... maybe I can too. So I did a few sprint tris and have had a blast.
Plus it can't hurt to work on being quick when your wife can kick your butt.
I've always wanted to do a 24 hour mtb race ever since I read an article in Dirt Rag Mag in 2001... or so. After 7 years of recreation mtb riding I finally found the juevos and 4 friends to do the 2007 fall 24 Hours of Adrenaline Race. The race was a blast... I was hooked immediately. Then the crazy thoughts started haunting me. "Hum... wonder if I can do this solo?"
List your competitive highlights:
2006 & 2007: Had moderate personal success competing in sprint distance triathlons.
2008: Competing in my first 12 hour solo race. January 2008 - 12 Hours of Temecula. It was one of the best and worst days of my life. It's odd how pain can help you realize that you're really living life to the full! Jason R. great job putting the race together!
What are you planning for next season?
Taking my solo 12 & 24 hr racing to the next level...
Following a real training plan based on JF's Training Bible & TrainingPeaks.com, trips to the dreaded gym for strength training, focused nutrition & miles and miles and miles on the road bike.
What has been your biggest accomplishment?
Marrying the right woman! Her example has taught me so much about having a positive attitude and always doing my best, regardless of the situation. Thanks 'Risa xoxo
